Teaching As Research
Although I know my research in nucleic acids will have an impact on modern science, I believe that my impact on young scientists as a professor will reach further and have far more lasting effects than my nucleic acid research ever will. The only way to grow and improve as an instructor is to reflect on traditional and modern teaching practices while assessing their effectiveness in a range of situations. As society and technology changes, so must our tactics in teaching and preparing our students for the next stage of their lives. Currently I just finished a project assessing the effectiveness of active learning and project based learning in the undergraduate chemistry curriculum and am working on modifying this course for an online platform. Please contact me if you would like to learn more and as soon as the paper is published, I will post the link here!
