Experiment Development Guide
This guide can be used to help walk students through the thought process behind developing an experiment for their research project. It also helps them to reflect, troubleshoot, and re-develop if the experiment did not succeed.
Generic Lab Report Rubric
I routinely use this rubric in a number of my classes to grade formal lab reports. I give this to each student at the start of class so that they know what to expect and can use this as a guide for writing their reports.
Scientific Paper Review Rubric
This rubric includes a break down review for each section of a scientific style peer reviewed paper. I utilized these rubrics any class that includes a scientific style writing project for grading, peer review, and as a guide for the student while writing.
Case Studies in Research Ethics
In this activity, I divide the class up into groups and give each a case study. Groups come up with a skit to act out the case study in front of the class. Afterwards we as a class discuss each scenario using the guiding questions included in each case study.
